  Lumisys Joins BACnet® International

Visit BACnet InternationalApril 10, 2006—( Atlanta , GA ) - Lumisys Joins BACnet® International

Lumisys officials announced this week that the company has officially become a member of BACnet® International.

"We believe that BACnet is a strategic component for our business growth,” said Lumisys Product Manager Gary Ditzler. “We are responding to the market and building owner demand for an alternative to stand-alone lighting control. Whether it is a new project or retrofitting an existing building, BACnet-ready products empower customers to integrate lighting control with state-of-the-art building automation control.”

BACnet International, formerly the BACnet® Manufacturers Association (BMA), is an organization that encourages the successful use of BACnet in building automation and control systems through interoperability testing, educational programs, and promotional activities.

“Lighting applications, such as those provided by Lumisys, benefit greatly from the BACnet protocol,” said President of BACnet International Andy McMillan. “As a superb choice for systems integration, BACnet can marry HVAC, lighting, security and other building systems to maximize occupant comfort and safety as well as energy efficiency.  We welcome the technical solutions represented in the Lumisys product line and the expanded solution thereby afforded to BACnet customers.”

Ben H. Dorsey III, marketing committee chair for BACnet International added, “For some time, the BACnet community was dominated by work in the HVAC arena.  Yet, a lighting applications working group within the ASHRAE BACnet committee has been developing processes and ensuring lighting interoperability since 2001.  The coming of Lumisys to our organization is a bellwether—indicative of the expanding reach of the BACnet protocol and this organization.  We are thrilled to have such quality companies as Lumisys step up to the interoperability plate.”
